January 2018 Newsletter

JANUARY SWIMMING:

Happy New Year!!  Now is the perfect time to start exercising on a regular basis at the pool.  We have many upcoming events to keep you motivated, plus the workouts always change.  So join the wet set and come and swim.  See you at the pool!

SCHEDULE CHANGES:

Monday, January 15, Martin Luther King’s Holiday, TCAM workouts 9:00, 10:00, 12:00 and 1:00, plus scheduled distance free events (see below)

2018 REGISTRATIONS:

The TCAM deadline for registering for 2018 has long passed.  If you are returning to the pool after an absence, remember that you need to have completed BOTH the USMS registration online and the TCAM registration at the desk before you can swim.  You will need to bring a copy of your USMS card and receipt from the desk to show to the coach.  No exceptions will be made.

DISTANCE FREE SWIMS:

We would like to encourage all of our TCAM swimmers to take the challenge of swimming one of our distance free events in January.  You have the option of a 500, 1000 or 1650 free or the ONE HOUR swim. The cost for each of the swims is $10.  The ONE HOUR swim is a national postal event and there are options to purchase multiple shirts and a cap.  Sign up sheets for the swims will be available on Wednesday, January 3.  Only the coach can sign you up for a scheduled time as everyone needs to be given an information sheet.  Each of the swims requires two helpers so we will need many volunteers.  If you are swimming, please sign up to help on a different day.  All swimmers should plan to help on one of the scheduled days.

The scheduled times are:

Monday, January 15, MLK, 2:15
Wednesday, January 17, 2:00
Friday, January 19, 2:00
Saturday, January 20 10:15

The weekday swims on January 17 and 19 have limited space, sign up early.

The distance swims completed in January can be used for the Big Blue Challenge which begins in March.

DONATION:

We would like to thank an anonymous donor for the check that was given to TCA-TCAM.  We will be using the money for the purchase of workout equipment to be used by all our swimmers.  Thank you.

EQUIPMENT:

Please remember to return all of the equipment you use during the workout to the correct bin at the end of practice.

BANDAIDS AND GUM:

As a reminder, bandaids and gum are not allowed on the pool deck.
